Smartinhaler technologies increase patient adherence to prescribed therapies, leading to increased revenue, improved disease management, and reduced healthcare costs.

Our People

Doug Wilson

Chairman

Dr Doug Wilson was Senior Vice President for Medical and Regulatory Affairs for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals (USA) for ten years where he oversaw a team of 400, including a number of medical staff, and was responsible for over 50 parallel drug developments. Doug then became head of Boehringer's worldwide medical research group overseeing all research programmes and working on upward of 100 drugs, and later relocated to Ingelheim (Germany) as head of Medicine and Regulatory Affairs worldwide. He is also Executive Chairman of ASX-listed biotech Phylogica (a drug discovery company) and is a director of Sea Dragon (a New Zealand company producing omega-3 oils by molecular distillation of fish oil).

Garth Sutherland

Founder and CEO

Garth has spent the last 20 years working for some of the world's top high technology companies in Europe, North America and Australasia including Microsoft Corporation. Garth founded Nexus6 in 2000. Garth graduated with a Masters of Science in Physics from the University of Waikato with First-Class Honours.

Jeremy Curnock Cook

Non-Executive Director

Jeremy Curnock Cook, is a former head of the life science private equity team at Rothschild Asset Management, and is currently an active investor in the Australian life science sector, and Managing Director of Bioscience Managers.

Matt McNamara

Non-Executive Director

Matt McNamara is Chief Investment Officer at Bioscience Managers. He has over 23 years experience in the healthcare & medical sciences sector, including roles at Merck, J&J Medical, and eBioinformatics Inc. Matt was CEO of a Life Sciences Venture Capital fund, SciCapital Pty. Ltd. Matt founded BioBridge Australia in 2004. He is also a Director of SciCapital Pty Ltd a private biotech investment company.

Maxine Simmons

Non-Executive Director

Maxine Simmons co-founded one of New Zealand's first biotechnology companies in 1983 and received the Distinguished New Zealand Bio-technologist award from the Biotechnology community. She is CEO of the seed co-investment fund Cure Kids Ventures Ltd and a member of review committees for the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Maxine is Chairwoman of NZBIO, and is director of the Maurice Wilkins Centre for BioDiscovery, Industrial Research Ltd and a number of life science companies. Maxine is currently a New Zealand representative on the APEC Business Advisory Council.

Previously a director of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and a founding director of Industry New Zealand (now New Zealand Trade and Enterprise), she is Chair of NZBIO, and is a director of the Maurice Wilkins Centre for BioDiscovery, Industrial Research Ltd and a number of life science companies. Maxine is currently a New Zealand representative on the APEC Business Advisory Council.
